The Programme of Materials Science and Engineering at Suqian University was founded in 2003. Initially, it offered three undergraduate programmes: Metal Materials, Inorganic Non-metallic Materials, and Material Forming and Control Engineering. The Materials Science and Engineering programme first enrolled students in 2016 and was designated as a first-class programme at Suqian University in 2021.
宿迁学院材料科学与工程专业成立于2003年。最初开设金属材料工程、无机非金属材料、材料成型及控制工程三个本科专业方向。材料科学与工程专业于2016年开始招生,并于2021年被确定为宿迁学院一流本科专业。

The curriculum is divided into 8 modules: Module1: Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, Module2: Engineering Fundamentals, Module3: Engineering Applications, Module4: Electives, Module5: Foreign Language Courses, Module6: General Courses, Module 7: Practical Courses, Module8: Bachelor’s Thesis. Main courses include: Engineering Drawing, Engineering Mechanics, Fundamentals of Mechanical Design, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Programme Introduction, Physical Chemistry, Fundamentals of Materials Science, Fundamentals of Materials Engineering, Materials Performance, and Materials Testing Methods. Graduates of this programme possess a solid knowledge of mathematics, natural science and professional knowledge. They demonstrate basic foreign language proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, are capable of working independently or as part of a team, and have a strong foundation in humanities and social sciences as well as a sense of social responsibility. Graduates are qualified to engage in scientific research, technology development, material analysis and testing, process development, equipment design, operation and management, and other aspects of the material engineering industry.
